I thought Great Expectations was a really good story, but it was hard to read. I did enjoy Dickens writing style. He knew how to keep people reading by his mystery-surprise element, but I think that since the writing in the time periods from then to now are so different that what was exciting then isn't as es exciting now. I know I didn't say anything during pretty much all of the Socratic Seminar's, but they helped me get good ideas for thesis statements.
Not gonna lie, I didn't read the entire book. When I did though, I went back and forth between putting it off as much as I could and reading it during the day to get it out of the way. It took me a long time to read, especially at night because I was tired, but also because I had a hard time staying focused on it. I would read something and space out, then have to go back and read it again.
