I am reading The Secret Life of Bees, and I am noticing that there is a lot of imagery. For example on page 4 when a swarm of bees flies around in Lily's room, it's very descriptive and you can feel the excitement that Lily has from the details given in the book; "They lapped around my body making me the perfect center of a whirlwhind cloud....""...Suddenly I couldn't stand not showing it off to somebody...".
Something that stands out to me is when Zachary Taylor gets Lily the notebook and they hug, because it shows how much they care for each other and they got to be that way in such a short amount of time, but it also stands out to me because when I read it, it gives me the vibe that they want to be with each other even though during the time period most people still focus on the color of their skin and them being together is pretty much impossible, but in this one moment it stands out that they don't care what color each others skin color is.
